What is Coronavirus ?
Coronavirus is a type of virus. There are different types, and some causes of disease. The coronavirus identified in 2019, SARS-CoV-2, has caused an outbreak of the respiratory disease, COVID-19
How does the coronavirus spread?
So far, researchers know that the coronavirus is transmitted by droplets and viral particles released into the air when an infected person breathes, talks, laughs, sings, coughs or sneezes. Larger droplets may fall to the ground in a matter of seconds, but smaller infectious particles can remain airborne and accumulate in indoor spaces, especially in crowded, poorly ventilated areas. That is why it is important to wear masks, avoid hand and body hygiene to prevent COVID-19.
How to protect yourself from this virus ?
WEAR A BANK, HUFA OR FFP2 MASK
Wearing a mask reduces the risk of infection. It doesn't completely prevent it, but it does reduce it (more strictly in the case of the FFP2 mask). Furthermore, it seems that people who contract the disease despite having a mask (or adequate physical distance) will have mild, even asymptomatic forms of the disease.
In general settings (outside of health care facilities) surgical masks and cloth masks seem adequate. On the other hand, for health professionals, the mask should be of the FFP2 type, which should be more effective in order to avoid contamination in cases of high endemicity.
BARRIER MOVEMENT TAKEN
Certain actions can prevent contamination by contact:
- Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water (at least 15 to 20 seconds) at all times and at each activity; alcohol-based "no-rinse" disinfectants (hydro-alcoholic solutions or gels) sold in pharmacies are also effective.
- Coughing and sneezing into the crook of the jaw.
- Use disposable tissues and dispose after coughing or sneezing.
- Do not shake hands or kiss to greet each other.
Adverse effects of repeated use of hydroalcoholic gels
Caregivers and others who frequently wash their hands with water-based alcohol gels have skin lesions: dryness, dyshidrosis , or even hand eczema . Indeed, this repeated washing damages the oily film that protects the skin and unbalances the skin’s microbial flora. Whenever possible, it seems preferable to wash your hands with a gentle cleansing gel and apply a moisturizing cream in the morning and evening.
Another skin effect may be related to practices intended to prevent COVID-19: facial dysplasia, which can occur following prolonged use of surgical masks or latex gloves, in allergic individuals.
INCREASE BODY DISTANCE TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM COVID-19
Distance between people is one of the most important things in the fight against COVID-19: ideally a distance of 2 meters according to recent scientific studies. Avoiding contamination, however, makes it possible to spread the virus to others, because we know that transmission of the disease can happen in the absence of symptoms . Everyone is advised to avoid situations where respect for this distance is difficult to ensure: confined spaces or poorly ventilated areas with large numbers of people, especially if they shout or sing (which advances the spread of the virus in dead air).
Masks are mandatory in shops and offices to compensate for the lack of physical distance and crowded presence.
